La Chambre, Sheffield Jeremy Smith was found guilty of raping the woman at La Chambre in Sheffield

A nightclub performer has been found guilty of raping a woman at a Halloween fancy dress party in Sheffield.

Jeremy Frazer Newsome Smith, 45, was convicted of raping the 20-year-old in the smoking area of the La Chambre club, in Attercliffe, on 27 October.

Smith, formerly of Shancara Court, Tingley, but now living in Regent Street, London, denied the charge but was found guilty after a trial.

He is due to be sentenced at Sheffield Crown Court on 3 September.

PC Jessica Hawley said: "Smith denied the offence and forced his victim to relive her ordeal in court, which must have been incredibly hard for her.

"I would like to praise her for the tremendous courage she has shown during the trial."
