Rotherham burglary victim restrained by raiders

A woman was restrained while a trio of burglars stole jewellery and money from her Rotherham home.

The victim, 69, was at her home in Carlisle Street when a man walked in claiming he needed to check the cooker.

When she tried to ring for help, he grabbed her wrists, took away her phone and continued to restrain her, police said.

Two other men came downstairs and all three left with numerous items of jewellery, cash and electrical items.

South Yorkshire Police has just released details of the incident, which happened at around 13:00 BST on Wednesday.

The man who assaulted the woman is described as white, of medium build and 5ft 6ins tall. He was wearing a long-sleeve white shirt, dark trousers and brown gloves.

One of the men who had been upstairs is described as 5ft 10ins tall and of slim build. He was also wearing gloves.
