Rotherham moped death crash victim named as Wayne Spencer

A man killed in a crash in South Yorkshire has been named by police as Wayne Richard Spencer.

The 28-year-old from Aston was riding a moped on the A57 in Rotherham when it was in collision with a BMW at 01:00 BST on Sunday.

A 29-year-old woman, thought to have been on the back of the moped, is in a stable condition in hospital.

A 34-year-old man arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving has been released on police bail.

A woman, 37, and two teenagers aged 14 and 16 arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender have also been released on bail.

Police have asked for any witnesses to the crash, which happened near the roundabout at junction 31 of the M1, to come forward.
