Escaped Hatfield prisoner is caught

A man who absconded from an open prison in South Yorkshire has been arrested by police.

Damian Pearson, 24, went on the run from HMP Hatfield in Doncaster on Sunday.

South Yorkshire Police said he had been arrested in the Doncaster area on suspicion of being unlawfully at large.

Pearson, who was jailed for three-and-half years for burglary in 2013, was one of six prisoners from Hatfield to abscond since May.
