Murder probe begins after Sheffield man shot

Police are investigating the murder of a 23-year-old man who died after being found with "gunshot wounds" on wasteland in Sheffield.

South Yorkshire Police officers were called to a patch of ground off the Queen Mary Road in the Manor area of Sheffield at about 02:20 BST.

The 23-year-old man was taken to hospital but died a short time later.

A police spokesman said the man, who is yet to be formally identified, had "apparent gunshot wounds".

Anyone with information is asked to contact police.
