Doncaster Rovers have confirmed the club has held talks with "external parties" about a possible takeover.

It comes after reports One Direction singer Louis Tomlinson is involved in a joint bid to buy the South Yorkshire club, along with former owner John Ryan.

The 22-year-old made an appearance for the Rovers reserve side in February.
