A 25-year-old woman who died after being struck by an articulated lorry in South Yorkshire has been named by police.

Leonie Louise Davies was walking on Pontefract Road, in Barnsley, when she was hit at about 05:15 BST on Friday.

She was taken to hospital but died later.

South Yorkshire Police said Ms Davies, from Barnsley, was walking with two other people, a man and a woman, at the time of the crash.

The 41-year-old lorry driver, also from Barnsley, was unhurt.

Officers have appealed for witnesses to come forward.
