Woman, 25, dies in lorry crash in Barnsley

A 25-year-old woman has died after being hit by an articulated lorry.

The woman was walking in Pontefract Road, in Barnsley, with two people when she was struck near to the junction with Wycombe Street at about 05:15 BST on Friday.

South Yorkshire Police said the woman, from Barnsley, was taken to hospital but died later. The 41-year-old lorry driver, also from Barnsley, was unhurt.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the collision to come forward.
