Doncaster stab victim Gabrielle Stanley 'unlawfully killed'

A Doncaster woman was unlawfully killed while a man found dead at the same house committed suicide, an inquest has found.

Police found Gabrielle Stanley, 28, with stab wounds after reports of a disturbance in Scawsby on 25 October. She later died in hospital.

The body of Simon Hall, 36, was also found at the house.

Coroner Nicola Mundy recorded a verdict of unlawful killing for Ms Stanley at Doncaster Crown Court.

She recorded a verdict of suicide by hanging for Mr Hall during the inquest yesterday.

Det Sgt Lee Berry of South Yorkshire Police said: "I wish to express my sincerest condolences to the family of Gabrielle Stanley, who I commend for their remarkable bravery and patience throughout this investigation.

"This was a tragic and devastating incident and I hope that the conclusion of proceedings today brings some closure to Gabrielle's family, as they begin to move on to the next step in their grieving process."
