Boy, 7, injured in Barnsley in collision with car

A seven-year-old boy has been seriously injured in a collision with a car in South Yorkshire.

The incident happened at about 13:40 GMT on Saturday, in Racecommon Road, Barnsley, South Yorkshire Police said.

The boy, who has not been named, suffered serious injuries when he was struck by a red Vauxhall Astra.

He was taken to hospital by air ambulance. Police have appealed for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.
