Up to 40 firefighters have been tackling a blaze at a furniture store in Sheffield.

The fire at Furniture For Less on Chesterfield Road broke out at about 18:00 BST on Tuesday.

South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said it responded to reports of a fire which started in a van and spread to a nearby building.

Crews are now damping down ahead of an investigation into the blaze, the fire service said.

The van which was on fire is thought to have been parked in a loading bay at Woodside Retail Park on Chesterfield Road.

Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus were sent into the building but were later pulled out, a fire service spokesman said.

Residents in the area were advised to close their doors and windows.

South Yorkshire Police said road closures on Scarsdale Road, Derbyshire Lane and Chesterfield Road were lifted at 02:20 BST.
