South Yorkshire Police find Sheffield 'drive-by shooting car'

A car linked to the "drive by shooting" of a 27-year-old man has been found burned out on the outskirts of Sheffield, police said.

A black Ford Focus was found abandoned in Smallage Lane, near Woodhouse, on Monday morning.

South Yorkshire Police said they were linking the car to the shooting on Saturday morning in Chadwick Road.

The victim was taken to Northern General Hospital where he is said to be in a stable condition.

Appealing for witnesses, Det Insp Martin Tate said the victim was leaving the Embassy Club, in Mansfield Road, when he was injured.

"The shots were fired from a passing car, understood to contain at least two suspects, and we believe the vehicle found nearby could have been used in the incident," he said.

Anyone with information has been urged to contact the police.
