'Runaway' bin lorry stops inches from house

Bin lorry on Tunwell Avenue, Ecclesfield The lorry stopped within inches of the house on Tunwell Avenue

A bin lorry has ploughed over a lamppost and stopped inches from a house on a street in South Yorkshire.

The lorry, operated by the Veolia company, crashed on Tunwell Avenue in the Ecclesfield area of Sheffield during the morning.

South Yorkshire Police said they were investigating. No-one was injured.

Veolia apologised and said it would carry out an immediate investigation, adding it took "all health and safety matters extremely seriously".
