Man arrested over Rotherham hit and run

A man has been arrested in connection with a hit and run collision in which a three-year-old girl was "left for dead", police have said.

Olivia Pollard, from Rotherham, was seriously hurt when she was hit by one or more motorbikes which failed to stop in East Herringthorpe on 3 July.

A 23-year-old man from Rotherham has been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.

He has been bailed pending further inquiries, South Yorkshire Police said.

Olivia suffered serious head and eye injuries and was airlifted to Sheffield Children's Hospital.

Police said she has since been discharged from hospital and is recovering well.
