Drive-by gunman targets Wharncliffe Hotel

A gunman has fired shots from a vehicle towards a pub in Sheffield.

South Yorkshire Police said the attack, outside the Wharncliffe Hotel on Bevercotes Road, happened at 23:30 BST on Saturday.

Officers said it was a "targeted attack" at the property, but no one had been injured. Extra patrols have been put on in the area.

A force spokesman said a number of "active lines of inquiry" were being pursued in the area.
