New cameras across Rotherham focus on uninsured cars
Senior police officers in South Yorkshire have said a rising number of uninsured vehicles in the region has prompted them to buy 10 new cameras that can read vehicle number plates.
Senior officers in Rotherham said they were to spend £50,000 on the devices.
Ch Supt Jason Harwin said the new cameras would be a mix of mobile units and static structures.
Ch Supt Harwin said the officers "would take uninsured vehicles off the borough's road network".
