Whitby sex attack teenage suspect released without charge

A teenage boy arrested over an allegation of a serious sex assault on a girl in Whitby has been released without charge.

The victim, whose age was not given by police, claimed she was attacked in an alleyway in the town on 12 September.

North Yorkshire Police said it had now concluded its inquiry and found the incident was not as initially reported.

The boy, whose age was also not given, will face no further action, the force said.
