Boy, 16, arrested over Mexborough stabbing attack

A 16-year-old boy has been arrested after a man was attacked in South Yorkshire leaving him with a stab wound to his chest.

Officers believe the incident took place at an address in Spencer Street in Mexborough, near Doncaster, on Friday morning.

South Yorkshire Police said the man was in a stable condition in hospital.

The boy, who was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, has been released on bail pending further enquiries.

Police have appealed for witnesses. They are searching for a group of males who are believed to have been seen in the area of Spencer Street and Wath Street at the time of the incident.

Officers believe they may have vital information that could help police with their enquiries.
