Rotherham police assault: Three men appear in court

Three men have appeared in court after a police officer suffered head injuries at a pub in South Yorkshire.

The 34-year-old was injured at the Mailcoach Inn on Wellgate in Rotherham at about 19:00 GMT on Monday.

Michael Dolan, 49, of Fitzwilliam Road, Eastwood appeared at Rotherham Magistrates' Court on Wednesday charged with assault and possession of a firearm.

Two others have been charged with affray.

Darryl Kent, 27, of Fitzwilliam Road and Lewis Kent, 23, of Adelaide Street, Maltby, were released on bail and are due before magistrates on 22 November.

Mr Dolan was remanded in custody and will appear at Sheffield Crown Court on 21 November.

South Yorkshire Police said the officer had been responding to reports of a fight.
