A man has appeared in court charged with the murder of a 48-year-old man whose body was found at a property in South Yorkshire.

Christopher Rooney's body was discovered on Sunday afternoon at his home on Auckland Road in Mexborough, near Doncaster, police said.

John Sowden, 44, of no fixed address, was remanded in custody at Doncaster Magistrates' Court.

He is due to appear at Sheffield Crown Court on 12 September.
