Barnsley Hospital pay for patients to watch Jubilee and Olympics on TV

A hospital in Barnsley is to pay for patients to watch the Queen's Diamond Jubilee celebrations on TV.

Barnsley Hospital said it would pay out about £7,000 from its charity trust fund to pay for the TV system package, which usually costs £3.50 a day.

Chairman Stephen Wragg said the funding was there to be used to enhance patients' wellbeing.

The hospital said it would also fund free TV during the Olympics and Paralympics throughout the summer.
