Sheffield Wednesday are to hold a civic celebration later this week to celebrate their automatic promotion to the Championship.

The club said it would hold an event outside the Town Hall on Wednesday 9 May at about 18:00 BST for its fans.

On Saturday The Owls beat Wycombe Wanderers 2-0 in front of a sell-out crowd at Hillsborough to secure second place in League One.

The club said manager Dave Jones and players would attend the event.

Meanwhile city rivals Sheffield United missed out on automatic promotion, finishing third in League One, and will now face Stevenage in the play-offs.
