Fire crews tackle wooden pallet blaze near M18

The fire service said the blaze had been contained but strong winds had made it difficult to put out

Fire crews are tackling a blaze close to the M18, near Doncaster.

South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue were called at about 03:45 GMT on Thursday to a recycling plant on Bankwood industrial estate in Rossington.

About 1,000 tonnes of wooden pallets and an excavator are on fire on Bankwood Lane. Four fire engines and a command support unit were called.

The fire service said wind conditions had excerbated the fire and crews were likely to remain there for the day.
