Barnsley hit-and-run victim named

A man killed in a hit-and-run incident in Barnsley has been named by police.

Peter Topping, 56, died from fatal injuries he suffered on Co-operative Street in Goldthorpe at around 20:25 GMT on Thursday.

It is believed he had been lying in the road when he was run over. South Yorkshire Police said the driver failed to stop at the scene before turning right into Doncaster Road.

They have appealed for witnesses to come forward.
