Barnsley hit-and-run victim may have been lying in road

A man has died in a hit-and-run incident in Barnsley, police have said.

The 56-year-old is believed to have been lying in the road on Co-Operative Street in Goldthorpe, when a vehicle drove over him, causing fatal injuries.

The vehicle is reported to have continued along Co-Operative Street before turning right into Doncaster Road, failing to stop at the scene.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or believes they know the driver of the vehicle is urged to contact police.
