Baby loss memorial service held in Sheffield

A woman from South Yorkshire who has had four miscarriages is hosting a ceremony to break the silence surrounding the loss of a baby.

Clare Freeland is holding a ceremony to mark and remember the "meaningful and poignant" lives that have been lost.

Mrs Freeland said the day was an opportunity for people to talk.

"It doesn't matter what religion you are, faith or no faith, we should celebrate the life we've had," said Mrs Freeland.

Mrs Freeland who is a civil funeral celebrant said the event on 15 October would be filled with music and poetry, with the opportunity to light a candle.

'Good to talk'

Mrs Freeland who has experienced the loss of a baby said the day would be there for people to "not pretend it had never happened."

"It's very sad and tragic and people find it hard to deal with, but it happens a lot.

"I see it from the other side, but I really appreciated it when people would let me talk about my losses because it affected me greatly. I think its good to talk about it."

The Baby Loss Remembrance Ceremony will be held on Saturday, 15 October at 15:00 BST at Dore Masonic Hall, Woodland View in Sheffield.
