A man from South Yorkshire has featured in the 2012 Guinness World Records for having "the largest collection of Daleks in the world".

Rob Hull is recognised for having the largest collection having amassed 571 of the Doctor Who models, despite not being a fan of the show.

The 49-year-old's hoard includes a 6ft life-size replica model.

Mr Hull, from Doncaster, said he bought his first Dalek at 29 and since then they had taken over his house.

He said: "I've never been a fan of the show, but I have been enchanted by the Daleks ever since I saw one in a toy store as a child.

"My mum wouldn't buy it for me, but I swore at that moment that I'd have my own one day."

But his 43-year-old wife Dawn is not celebrating her husband being the newest record holder.

She said: "I hate the things and I've got a feeling this is only going to encourage him."

Another bizarre record that features in the 2012 collection has been achieved by Uchida Geinousha's Super Wan Wan Circus, based in Japan, where audiences can see 13 dogs skipping on a rope.

Chanel Tapper, 21, from California, USA, has also gained an entry for having the world's longest tongue, measuring 3.8in (9.75cm).
