Pair killed in car crash on A39

A man and a woman died after the car they were in left the road and crashed in Somerset.

Avon and Somerset Police said it happened on the A39 at Rush Hill near the village of Farrington Gurney at about 20:00 BST on Friday.

A 19-year-old woman and 21-year-old man, who were passengers in the car, were seriously injured and died at the scene shortly afterwards.

The driver of the vehicle received minor injuries, police said.

Another passenger was taken to Southmead Hospital in Bristol with serious injuries.
