The M4 Second Severn Crossing is to be reduced to one lane eastbound this weekend for work to be done.

Two lanes will be closed from 22:00 BST until 10:00 BST on Sunday. The closure is for essential waterproofing and resurfacing work.

A Highways Agency spokesman said if delays occur traffic will be diverted to the M48 Severn Crossing.

He said the crossing was a "vital transport link" and the work will keep it operating safely for years to come.

"We have planned the work carefully to cause the least possible disruption to road users," he said.

"The work is being carried out when traffic flows are lowest but road users are advised to plan ahead and allow longer for their journeys."
