A café set from an axed TV comedy show is to be rebuilt in a park after planning permission was granted.

The building, which featured in Sky One show The Café, is to be re-located to Hamilton Park in Taunton, Somerset.

The half-hour comedy, starring Ralf Little from The Royle Family, was set and filmed in Weston-super-Mare and ran for two years.

Planning permission to re-erect the café in the park was granted by Taunton Deane Borough Council on Tuesday.

The 11m (36ft) wide octagonal Cyril's Café, which featured in 13 episodes of the sitcom, was given to The Friends of Hamilton Park after the show was cancelled last year.

The "very substantial building" - currently flat-packed and in storage - is due to be rebuilt in the park in the summer and will be staffed by young unemployed volunteers.
