Woman dies after being hit by car in Yeovil, Somerset

A pedestrian died after being struck by a car in Yeovil, Somerset.

The woman, who has not been named by police but is said to be local, was pronounced dead at the scene after she was struck by a silver Ford Fiesta.

Police said the woman, who was in her 40s, was walking along Stourton Way just before 9:00 BST when the incident took place.

The road was closed for several hours while the scene was examined, Avon and Somerset Police said.
