Musgrove Park Hospital U-turn on volunteer parking charges

Volunteers who drive patients to and from Taunton's Musgrove Park hospital will no longer be charged for parking.

The decision was taken by the hospital's chief executive Jo Cubbon after the issue was brought to her attention on a BBC Somerset phone-in.

The drivers will now be informed by letter explaining why it has taken time to action the changes.

Ms Cubbon said the hospital parking was contracted out and arrangements had to be made with the operators.

"We've worked out a way we can do that [offer free parking]... and the letters will be going out in the next few days," she said.
