A 900-signature petition has been signed against plans to build 89 homes in a valley near Bath.

The homes are planned for Greenlands Road in the centre of Peasedown St John near Bath on a sloping piece of land.

Resident Petra Schofield said: "What the residents see is how unsustainable this particular development is and it is in the wrong place."

Developers Edward Ware Homes have said the homes are in a very sustainable location with good access to amenities.

Mr Ware said: "There's been a detailed transport plan and transport officers at Banes [Bath and North East Somerset Council] have said they think the proposal regarding highways is acceptable."

The plans have been recommended for approval by Bath and North East Somerset Council.

Councillors will decide on the application later.
