Man arrested after Waitrose fire in Wellington

A man has been arrested on suspicion of arson after a fire at a supermarket in a Somerset town.

Half of the roof at the entrance of the Waitrose store in the High Street in Wellington collapsed during the blaze, shortly after 06:00 BST on Sunday.

No-one was injured in the fire. The main building suffered smoke damage and remains closed.

Avon and Somerset Police said the man was arrested on Sunday.

Flames were spotted early in the morning and the fire was attended by crews from the Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service.
