Conservative win for Coker division in delayed election

The Conservatives have won the former Liberal Democrat seat of Coker in a delayed election held after the death of a UKIP candidate.

The election for the division was held on Thursday following the death of Audrey Spencer.

Marcus Fysh secured 1,303 votes in a 45% turnout followed by the Liberal Democrats, UKIP, Labour and the Greens.

The Conservatives now have a total of 29 seats at Somerset County Council with a majority of three seats.
