A historic landmark in Somerset has been destroyed in an arson attack, police have said.

The sheep hurdle stack on Priddy Green was set alight in the early hours of Sunday.

It had been used to hold sheep hurdles for the annual sheep fair which moved to the village from Wells in 1348 because of the Black Death.

Priddy Parish Council said the hurdles stack, sign and two benches were insured and would be rebuilt.
