Man dies in Taunton M5 motorway crash

M5 motorway crash, Saturday 9 March 2013 The crash happened between junctions 25 and 26 between Taunton and Wellington

One man has been killed and two others have been seriously injured in a collision on the M5 in Somerset.

The crash happened between junctions 25 and 26, Taunton and Wellington, at about 06:13 GMT.

The accident on the southbound carriageway caused long tailbacks for most of the morning.

Three people were taken to Musgrove Park Hospital, Taunton. The two others injured in the crash remain in a life-threatening condition, police said.

BBC reporter Clinton Rogers said the dead man and the two injured were all in the same car.

Sgt Jim Whatley, of the Roads Policing Unit, said: "This is a serious incident in which a young man has tragically lost his life.

"I am particularly keen to speak to anyone who was using the motorway network at this time who may have witnessed this collision."
