Bath and North East Somerset Council to webcast meetings

Decisions made at Bath and North East Somerset Council meetings will be shown live on a webcast in a first for the authority.

The first broadcast on the authority's website will be the cabinet debate on 13 February at the Guildhall in Bath.

A catch-up facility after meetings will allow people to skip to whichever point in proceedings they want.

Council leader Paul Crossley said the aim was to made democracy "accessible to all".

He said "key issues" affecting local communities were debated regularly by the cabinet and the authority wanted to "engage them in the decisions which are made".

Visitors to the site will also find options to contact the cabinet and request a response.
