Somerset school to remain closed after roof fire

A Somerset school which was evacuated after a fire in the roof is to remain closed on Thursday.

All pupils and teachers at Hugh Sexey CofE Middle School were sent home after the fire broke out after 10:00 GMT.

The school in Blackford said it was uncertain whether it would reopen before the weekend.

No-one was injured in the fire in the school's roof space which is thought to have been caused by an electricity fault.

The school, which has 650 students aged between 9-13, asked parents to check the website for further updates.
