Man charged with kidnap following manhunt

A Somerset man has been charged with kidnap following a six-month manhunt.

Lee Ronald Whitting, 33, was arrested in Plymouth following an appeal on the BBC's Crimewatch programme in November.

He was charged by police with kidnap with intent to commit a relevant sexual offence. He was also charged with theft and making off without payment.

Mr Whitting appeared at Taunton Deane Magistrates Court and was remanded into custody before an appearance at Bristol Crown Court on 4 February.
