Ambulance trapped in ice Residents in Bloomfield Road, Bath help free an ambulance trapped by ice

Drivers in Somerset are being warned to take extra care on the county's roads over the weekend and to beware of ice.

A Somerset County Council spokesman said inspectors had been out on the roads and identified areas "at most risk".

Gritting crews have been working since 05:00 GMT to treat key roads to keep them clear.

Once all main routes in the area were treated, work began on salting secondary routes and rural areas.

The Met Office has issued a severe weather warning for ice, with a yellow alert in place until Monday.

Further snow flurries are also expected across the region.

Residents in Bloomfield Road in Bath helped to free an ambulance which had got trapped by the ice on Saturday.
