Chard residents oppose 450 homes plan

Plans to build 450 homes on the northern edge of a Somerset town have sparked concerns among residents.

Developer Mactaggart & Mickel Homes wants to build the estate in Chard even though the land is not earmarked in the local council's planning blueprint.

Local resident Helen Lock said: "It's not just extending the northern boundary of Chard, it's impinging upon the parish of Combe St Nicholas."

The developer has said its plans will help regenerate the town.
