A group in Somerset is hoping to secure £5,000 in funding to set up a community-run cinema club.

People in Watchet will find out later whether their application to West Somerset Council is successful or not.

Anne Harrison, from the club, said: "We haven't got a village hall but we've got an infants school who are happy to have the cinema based there."

The group hopes to buy a projector, screen and blackout blinds and have raised £800 themselves for the club.

"It's very inclusive to all Watchet residents, we've had 90-year-olds, people on the fringes of society and we offer refreshments, it gets people out," added Mrs Harrison.

The club has said it has been running for six months on a test basis using borrowed equipment which has proved there was enough interest.
