Aerial photos of landscapes around the country will go on display at a free outdoor exhibition in Bath city centre, it has been announced.

Britain from the Air will feature more than 100 images including a heart-shaped wood in Oare, Wiltshire, and a salmon farm in the Shetland Isles.

There will also be a giant walk-on Ordnance Survey for people to pinpoint the locations.

The display will be launched by actor Michael Palin next Tuesday.

The exhibition was created by the Royal Geographical Society with the Institute of British Geographers, and open air exhibition specialists Wecommunic8.

Mr Palin, president of the society, said: "All too often, chasing far-away places, we forget just what beauty we have on our doorstep and just how varied Britain is, even today.

"This exhibition is designed to celebrate this diversity and shows us, very powerfully, just what we're missing down here on the ground."
