M5 congestion after lorry fire The incident led to serious delays on the southbound carriageway

Motorists faced delays on the M5 in Somerset after a lorry broke down and caught fire.

The incident happened on Thursday morning on the southbound carriageway near junction 26 at Wellington.

Police operated a rolling road block to slow down traffic before closing part of the southbound carriageway briefly.

Vehicles were being taken off at the exit slip-road at junction 26 and back on at the entry slip-road. The motorway has since reopened.
