New jobs at Telford chicken processing firm

Hundreds of new jobs are expected to be created as a Telford chicken processing firm expands its factory in January.

The Faccenda plant, which provides meat for discount supermarkets and fast food outlets, currently handles one million birds a week at Hortonwood.

That is set to increase to 1.2 million, with plans to grow even further.

It means 850 staff will be working at the plant from January, rising to 1,000, making it one of the biggest employers in the town.

HR Director Andrew Brodie said the firm's capacity had grown "ten fold" over the last 10 years due to an increased demand for chicken in the UK.
