Men jailed for raping teenager in Telford

Two Lithuanian men who raped a teenager after following her when she left a Shropshire nightclub have both been jailed for 13 years.

Tomas Paplauskas, 30, and Andrius Grikpedis 35, carried out a "prolonged, premeditated and merciless attack" on the 19-year-old in Telford last July.

The woman was thrown into bushes and attacked, Shrewsbury Crown Court heard.

Paplauskas, of no fixed abode, and Grikpedis, from Donnington, will be deported after serving their sentences.

Det Sgt Mark Jones, from West Mercia Police, said the men both targeted the woman by following her from the nightclub.

"They attacked her and carried her away, where they both exploited her for their own sexual gratification in the most dreadful way," he said.

He paid tribute to the victim for her "strength and character" throughout the investigation.
