Church Window Bridge near Gretton to close for eight weeks

A road bridge will be closed to traffic for up to eight weeks after cracks were found.

The defects were spotted during an inspection of the Church Window Bridge near Gretton, Shropshire.

Repair work is due to start on 4 August and will involve taking down and rebuilding the damaged parts.

Traffic will be diverted along Gilberries Lane and the B4371 but the bridge will remain open to walkers and dismounted cyclists.

Shropshire Council cabinet member Claire Wild said: ''Whilst it is appreciated that the road closure will cause inconvenience, please be assured that everyone involved in the repair will do all that they reasonably can to reopen the road as soon as possible."
