Police officers are to stage a football match to raise funds for a trust set up in memory of a murdered teenage girl.

Georgia Williams, 17, was killed in May by Jamie Reynolds in Wellington, Shropshire, in an attack described as "sadistic and sexually-motivated". Reynolds was jailed in December.

The Georgia Williams Trust, set up by family and friends, has already raised more than £30,000.

West Mercia Police, where her father is a detective, has organised the match.

Officers and staff at the force, which covers Herefordshire, Worcestershire and Shropshire, have organised the match for Sunday, at 15:00 GMT at Bromsgrove School in Worcester Road.

Richard Langton, chairman of the charity - which aims "to enable young people to participate in life-building activities and contribute to the local community" - said the match would be the latest in a number of fundraisers from Georgia's father's colleagues and said he hoped it would become an annual event.

Reynolds was given a whole-life jail term after a court heard how the 23-year-old had hanged Georgia at his parents house in Wellington.
