An Oswestry motorcyclist who died after a crash with a van has been named.

Steve Conde's family said the 46-year-old died after the crash on the A49 in Dorrington, Shropshire, on Monday.

Mr Conde, who had two children, aged 18 and 15, was airlifted to University Hospital of North Staffordshire but was confirmed dead shortly after arrival.

The van driver, a man, was treated for the effects of shock and taken by ambulance to the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital as a precaution.

A West Mercia Police spokesman said a post-mortem examination would be carried out later this week.

He said: "We're appealing for witnesses and would particularly like to speak to the driver of a car that was travelling in the same direction as the motorcyclist.

"It was flashing its headlights as a warning about the collision so may have seen it happen."
